A graduate of the PMHS Class of 1999, Nick Sanchez has achieved a mounting series of successes in musical theater — acting, singing and dancing in award-winning productions on Broadway and in touring companies across the country. His superb career is part of a continuum of artistic excellence that Nick first demonstrated at Medford Elementary, South Ocean Middle School, and Patchogue-Medford High School, where he starred in musicals, show choirs, homecoming skits, and orchestra concerts. During his school years as an actor, singer and violist, Nick made a name for himself by participating in All-County and All-State music festivals as well as productions at local theaters including the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport and Creative Ministries in Oakdale. All of that experience launched Nick on his way toward reaching his lofty theatrical goals and accomplishing great success in the theater community.

Nick earned a Fine Arts degree in musical theater from Marymount Manhattan College and then on his own, without the benefit of a theatrical agent, hit the New York City audition circuit. He tried out again and again until his dream of reaching the Broadway stage was finally realized when he won a role in the Tony Award-winning smash hit, Rent. From there, Nick continued his hard work and development, going on to grace more Broadway and national stages in musicals including Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville, and most recently in a national touring company of the sensational blockbuster Hamilton, in which he has played several characters, sometimes more than one in a single performance. To back up his performing career, Nick also earned an advanced degree in interior design from Fashion Institute of Technology.

Even with all of his mounting success, Nick has continuously taken time to give back to communities wherever his work has taken him, hosting workshops and master classes, and visiting schools, theaters and dance studios with the determination to inspire, encourage, educate and elevate young students, just as he was helped by his own mentors. Many of those mentors were teachers and arts professionals in the Patchogue-Medford community, and Nick returns often to his hometown to share his gifts and inspire students. He is a man who embodies Raider Strong and Pat-Med Pride. Nick is also an active member of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation’s leading non-profit fundraising organizations, and performs annually in its benefit productions. Nick currently lives in Naples, New York.
