Danielle Kaiser

Danielle Kaiser, PMHS Class of 1998, was an All-County varsity basketball Danielle Kaiser player at Pat-Med, and then a standout Hall  of Famer at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue. Danielle came up through Tremont Elementary and Oregon Middle School. As a young girl she enjoyed athletics and sports of all types. She played basketball, softball, baseball, badminton and even tried her hand at tennis. She was also an outstanding musician, playing saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble and in the Oregon and PMHS marching bands.  

 Of her many interests, however, none was stronger than the passion that drove her to excel on the basketball court, and later to teach and coach the game, and pass on those passions to her students. To those ends she was relentless, becoming the dominant force on several Pat-Med Varsity Girls’ teams that defined excellence, especially the 1997-98 squad that Danielle led to the League Championship while she was selected for All-League honors. She also made All-League in Varsity Badminton that year, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
 

In her four seasons playing on the St. Joseph’s Golden Eagles Women’s basketball team, Danielle became one of only seven players in the program’s history to score 1,000 or more career points. As team captain in 2001-02 she led the team to a WIAC championship, and at the time of her graduation she reigned as SJC Long Island’s all-time leader in points, three-point field goals and steals, and ranked third all-time in rebounds and assists. In October 2016, St Joseph’s College honored Danielle by inducting her into its Athletic Hall of Fame.

Danielle’s lifelong goal to teach derived from her desire to share in the joy of learning, which inspired her own achievements . She began her teaching career at Medford Elementary School shortly after graduating from St. Joseph’s in 2002 and remains a much-loved member of the Medford faculty. While teaching at Medford, she also spent 12 years as an assistant coach with the Pat-Med Varsity Basketball team. In 2013 she coached the junior varsity and in 2014-15 she moved up to become Varsity head coach.

Danielle currently lives in Holbrook with her wife Sandra, their son Christian and her stepson Anthony and recently became a grandma from her stepdaughter Rhiannon.
