John Hawley
Originally from Patchogue, John is a 1982 Patchogue-Medford High School graduate. Upon graduation, John enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for 21 years. He became an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician (EOD). While in EOD, he was stationed in Rot, Spain. John’s primary mission while in Spain was to respond to threats from the Basque terrorism
Movement. His unit also supported Embassy Security Operations in North Africa. After completing his 3 year commitment to EOD, John moved on to Basic Underwater Demolition School Training and US NAVY SEAL TRAINING. His career with the SEALS began with SEAL TEAM 2 in 1989. While with Seal Team 2, John worked in such theaters as: South America, Norway, and predominantly Bosnia and the Balkans. Upon leaving the SEAL community, John continued to serve our country in support of intelligence operations in such places as: Middle Ease, North Africa, Somalia and the European Union.
After retiring from the military, John transitioned to other government agencies. This group of government agencies included the FBI, CIA and DIA. John’s assignments called for him to work domestically and abroad. After 11 years in this field, John retired and opened his own shop, specializing in diplomatic issues in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region. John’s clientele base consists of globally recognized law firms and high net worth individuals. He currently owns two companies: Applied Risk Solutions and Applied Communications Consulting.
While serving as a Navy SEAL, John’s assignments were far reaching and worldwide. Working on complex domestic and global initiatives, both operationally and diplomatically, John worked on projects in such foreign locations as: Spain, France, Germany, South America, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Middle East North Africa, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, numerous African countries, and the Middle East (Iraq, Kurdistan and Syria). One project that John has devoted himself to is securing the release of Austin Tice and has developed close relationships with upper echelon international associates that are vested in Tice’s release.
Currently, John is vetted and has an intact Syrian intelligence network which has been used to identify rouge training camps in Syria that have been training and supplying Islamist fighters to various hotspots such as Libya, Yemen and Iraq. This network has been able to identify training areas, training cadre personnel, recruiting techniques and how they move these fighters to desired hotspots. This network has also uncovered funding mechanisms for these camps and training.
Married for 28 years, John is the proud father of three sons, John 22, Brendan 19 and Owen 15. Besides spending time with the family, John enjoys Telemark Skiing, Salt Water Fishing and Golf. He also devotes time to community service, which includes: coaching Youth Ice Hockey and Baseball; starting an organization to help active duty and retired Navy SEALS combat alcoholism.
