Judi Paparelli

A graduate of the Patchogue-Medford Class of 1971, Judi Paparelli forged a spectacular career as a nationally renowned media personality, innovator, public servant and inspirational mentor to countless people over the span of five decades. A native of Yonkers who moved to Patchogue as a fourth grader, Judi thrived in every way as a student in our district. After
attending Tufts University in Boston, Judi began a radio career at WLNH Radio in New
Hampshire, rapidly rising from office assistant to become the host of her own show by
persuading every one of the 1980 U.S. presidential candidates to appear on the station before the nation’s first presidential primary. Soon Judi was hosting talk shows in Charleston, Atlanta and then Boston, where her insightful wit made her a popular traffic reporter as well as her station’s news and entertainment director. There Judi developed “Traffic Watch,” a high-tech traffic reporting system broadcast jointly by teleision and radio stations which was so successful that it was quickly adopted by broadcasters nationwide.

Through her reporter diaries – “Adventures of Media Girl” and “JudiWorld: A Global Radio
Adventure”- Judi would take listeners along on many of her exciting experiences, such as
carrying the Olympic Torch, sailing with the Tall Ships, covering Boston Marathons, traveling to Saudi Arabia, as well as to political conventions and inaugurations. For years Judi served as an Interview specialist for the City of Los Angeles, chairing promotional boards for the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments. Throughout her career, Judi placed a premium on community service, helping the needy to overcome obstacles and limitations in their lives and professions.

Sadly, Judi passed away earlier this year, four-and-a-half years after the passing of her husband and soul mate, the author and fellow adventurer Russell S. Dynda.
