The 2020-2021 has been a most challenging year for our organization. As most of our followers know, we were forced once again, due to the COVID crisis, to postpone the Induction Ceremony and Dinner for the Induction Class of 2020. Our target date for this event is October 15th, 2021, pending approval from the appropriate powers that control large group events in public schools. Our inductees and their families are hoping for this event to finally take place and join their fellow inductees in this place of Honor.
Some updates on HOF activities
We have held several successful fundraisers during the pandemic crisis. Since we were unable to hold our induction ceremony and dinner (our main source of fundraising), our fundraising committee has had to become very creative, looking for ways to help with the financial obligations the HOF must address yearly. Special thanks to those businesses who graciously donated gift certificates and services to our Calendar Raffles. Thank you to all who participated in our Super Bowl Raffle as well.
Journal Ads: We are still accepting journal ads for the 2020-2021 Induction Ceremony. If you or someone you know is interested in submitting an ad either on behalf of an inductee or as an advertisement for a business, please contact us at pmhof.org or 631-275-7924. The cutoff date for journal ads is July 1, 2021.
We will once again be honoring a graduating Senior with a $500.00 scholarship. The winner will be announced in mid June.
Our relationship with the Patchogue-Medford School District Middle Schools 6th grade Research Classes was a major success once again this year. The students in the Oregon Middle School chose to nominate 8 individuals for consideration for induction into the HOF. The students conducted interviews with the candidates, researched the individual prior to the interview, then compiled their notes into a formal nomination application for said individual. This was a great experience not only for the students, but for the candidate as well.
We are in the process of creating a mobile HOF learning center, soon to roll out for public display. More information to come.
